Istanbul, Turkey, February 2013
Eikosphere’s Catherine Cunningham explored the streets, culture, monuments, and deep history of Istanbul. Hosted by friends and new colleagues from the region, Catherine’s experience was light year’s away from the tragic, young American woman’s experience from NYC. Istanbul is a very lively city, a true meeting point among the Far East, Europe, and MENA. Eiko found the people extraordinarily friendly, the Bizaare colorful and exciting, the energy youthful, positive, and forward-thinking. Istanbul is one of those special modern urban jewels that both celebrates its layered history dating back to the Ottoman Empire (also before) and nurtures its burgeoning, actually already thriving, service industries. This was Eiko’s first time to Turkey; and certainly not the last. Our dialogue as just begun.
