Mexican Pavilion, Cancunmesse, Cancun, Mexico, December 2010
In the Mexican Pavilion at the Cancunmesse (centerpoint of the COP 16 exhibition area), Eikosphere invited leading delegates from WWF, Mexico, CONAGUA, CONAFOR, World Bank Environmental Program, UNFF, IUCN, OECD, London School of Economics and delegates from many national governments; such as Ecuador, Costa Rica, Mexico, South Africa, UAE, Norway, US to see the film and to discuss the message of financing forest protection. In addition, after President Calderon’s presentation on the REDD+ Partnership, Catherine met with him and the First Lady to share the vision behind the Living Forest and In Lak’ech Ala K’in for COP 16.
In addition, we also took the film to special events outside of COP 16; like the World Climate Business Summit sponsored by leading climate-sensative companies, such as Philips, Seimens, Coca-Cola, FEMSA, CNN, Virgin; to side events at Green Solutions; and to the Global Carbon Fund’s REDD+ social where the governor of Chiapas and his staff enjoyed our 3D film among others.
Finally, our executive team is most proud that our film was one of the first 3D productions made in Mexico, for Mexico, and by leading Mexican talent. As Eikosphere hired 95% of the production staff from Mexico, we also succeeded in showcasing the incredible talent and vision of film professionals in this beautiful country. Thank you to everyone who believed in the film and its message; and contributed their work to our larger vision to remind ourselves of our vital connection to the natural world and for all of us to strive continually to live with the ethic In Lak’ech Ala K’in as we walk through the world.
