OIKOS IN HARMONY

Aligning with the UN Global Goals

Oikos is the Greek word meaning Home. Both ecology and economy derive from Oikos, literally translated as the study and the management of our Home. In the Eikosphere (Eiko) we aim to create a sphere of deep insight among world leaders using compelling communications and multimedia to bring economically and ecologically sustainable solutions forward into reality. The narrative framework within which we will align our communication ventures into the future are the UN Global Goals. Why? Our aim is to help clients refresh their social-ecological responsibility, purpose-driven platforms within a compelling global context. Further, we intend to communicate these solutions in the most effective ways in order to realize them.

These are our primary areas of focus where we have a track record of expertise.

Financing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies for developing communities, focusing on the most vulnerable people and sensitive ecosystems; like melting ice and permafrost, ocean acidification, coral reef bleaching, desertification, species loss and migration.
FUTURE ENERGY
Promoting a necessary transition to clean technologies, energy efficiency, smart grids, rapid global public transit; while encouraging south-south technology transfer and embracing natural capital principles in designing smart cities.
FOOD AND WATER SECURITY
Resolving local water conflicts, implementing local permaculture strategies, adapting agriculture to limitations in water, encouraging new desalination technologies for ocean- inundated SIDS communities, conceiving the ocean as our breadbasket, not a wastebasket.
BIODIVERSITY LOSS
Increasing ecotourism and sustainable land management options for the future, maximizing species diversity, capitalizing on natural design concepts, protecting natural resources and ecosystem services; like fresh water, rich soil, and clean air.
HEALTH AND EDUCATION
Using limited resources wisely to deliver basic health care, optimizing emergency response to pandemic global health threats, mitigating illness and disease through health education to high risk communities.
BALANCING POPULATION AND RESOURCES
Ramping up health and education to women and children, providing choices for family planning, mitigating urban migration, attaining a more equitable distribution of global wealth, including natural and human capital costs for valuing global goods and services.
URBAN ECOLOGY
Showcasing cutting edge regenerative, carbon neutral, and green cities; encouraging urban centres to create walking cultures, nature spaces, distributed clean energy options, smart grid designs, and local markets.
SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY
Encouraging virtual work and travel, dissecting global trade, promoting energy efficient shared mobility options when traveling by air, land, or sea; also encouraging innovation in the shipping industry to reduce energy demand and climate impacts.
EXTREME POVERTY
