Eikosphere presented a special trailer cut of Eye of the Future for Cisco’s Partnership for Urban Innovation Invited Conference in Shanghai during the World Expo, June 2010. The plenary opened with welcoming comments from Mayor Ge Hong Lin, Mayor of Chengdu City, Then, John Chamber’s, CEO of Cisco, inspired us by highlighting the importance of catching market trends early, working collaboratively perhaps with unlikely partners, and painting a bold and aggressive vision for solving even the most daunting urban sustainability challenges. The rest of the meeting was chock full of deep discussions and presentations by many illustrious thought leaders in sustainable urban design. At this meeting, the proverbial baton for Cisco’s, Metropolis’, and the Climate Group’s shared Connected Urban Development program was passed officially to Steve Howard, CEO Climate Group. It was clear that the collective intention for CUD was to now grow forward with enriched participation by a broader global business community, including Cisco. It was a great honor for our film to open the afternoon session on Barriers and Solutions to Sustainable Cities; and it was a true eye-opener to see where such a visionary company, like Cisco, is going with ICT across the global urban landscape.
